Alana Morazzini, LCSW — Oakland Therapist
A Practice Built for Depth, Care, and Real Support
Hi, I’m Alana.
I’m an experienced therapist offering couples counseling and individual therapy in Oakland. I’ve worked in the mental health field for more than 15 years across nonprofit agencies, outpatient clinics, college counseling centers, hospice services, and crisis support.
I opened my private practice in 2019 after seeing a gap in care for women and parents navigating some of life's most vulnerable moments. I wanted to create a space where maternal mental health, relationship challenges, trauma, and the complexities of women's lives could be met with the depth, attention, and specialized care they deserve. It's work I'm deeply invested in.
Areas of Service
-
Couples Therapy & Relationship Enrichment
Using attachment science, I help couples understand communication breakdowns, navigate conflict with greater empathy, and build the emotional connection needed to sustain long-term partnership.
-
Trauma, Grief, & Loss
Trauma-informed care that helps you process difficult experiences, make meaning of loss, and move toward healing and resilience.
-
Maternal Mental Health
Support through pregnancy, postpartum challenges, and the transition to parenthood, including anxiety, depression, and identity shifts.
-
Perimenopause, Women’s Issues & Midlife Transitions
Care for the emotional, relational, and identity changes that often emerge during midlife.
My Therapeutic Approach
My therapeutic approach is rooted in relational and attachment frameworks, integrating psychodynamic and intersubjective theory, attachment science, and trauma-informed experiential methods including Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), alongside mindfulness-based approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I tailor our work to your unique needs and what you hope to achieve.
In my work with couples, I primarily draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Developmental Model to help partners understand their conflict patterns, communicate more effectively, and deepen their connection.
My commitment to ongoing training ensures I'm using current, evidence-based approaches that support meaningful change — from our very first session.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Clients describe me as warm, open, and attentive. I don't believe you should feel adrift in the therapy process. I'm actively engaged at every step — reflecting, asking thoughtful questions, and offering empathic feedback so we stay focused on what matters most to you. With a background in Fine Arts, I also welcome creativity, imagination, and moments of humor as meaningful parts of the work.
I am committed to anti-racist, affirming care for BIPOC clients, those from varied cultural and religious backgrounds, and those who identify as LGBTQ+. I will never shy away from the pain that racism, homophobia, and oppression cause — or ask you to manage my feelings at the expense of your own.
